Hubert Jackson - May Featured Artist
The Artists’ Alliance (AA) at Jarrett Thor Fine Arts is excited about the May show. We are featuring the great Hubert Jackson, painter extraordinaire. Hubert integrates his roots in his work, having grown up in Culpepper, VA., in the heart of the land of the Civil War. He typically incorporates textures and artifacts in his paintings. He is well known as a master colorist as well as for the spirituality of his paintings, that touch all viewers.
Hubert says about his show, “By the end of the Civil War, more than ten percent of the Union Army consisted of members of USCT (United States Colored Troops). My paintings honor the sacrifices made by these troops and their families.” Come out and see these extraordinary paintings in person.
The opening is Friday, May 13m from 5-9. The show runs through June 5. The gallery is open Friday - Sunday, from 11-5. The attached image is USCT Couple #1,Mixed Media, by Hubert Jackson.
The Intrepid Mary Wenz
Member Artist Mary Wenz rescues wildlife, when she isn’t creating sculptures or photographs. Here Mary is shown with an eagle she rescued. She ran to get it after sitting up all night with an Osprey with a badly broken wing. And, she picked up a bunny on the way home from dropping off the eagle. Shades of Dr. Doolittle.
