This small (8"X8") oil painting is part of a series on abandoned farm homes in Virginia's Norther Neck I've been working on for nearly 10 years. When I photograph homes to paint, I include the surrounding landscape and try to imagine the care and planning of those long-departed gardeners. Here, hearty wisteria outlasted the residents and will mark the spot long after the house is gone.
