This piece was painted when I was first thinking about Ukraine and its situation in the war. We were all noting the way in which their world was both large and small villages. This was painted before things got really bleak and so the colors and attitude reflect a hopefulness that has since evaporated. I look forward to a moment when that hopefulness and brightness shines on Ukraine.
