Oil on Canvas

Snowy Twilight was painted from a window in our home during a snow falling in our garden. I began the painting in early afternoon, spent too much time fighting with trying to get a mood, and suddenly found myself near dark with an incomplete work. I liked the quiet colors of the coming twilight before me better than what was down in my early start, so, I quickly changed my color harmony and values. The early evening painting emerged. This sort of mid stream change does not always work in plein air painting, but in this case a better piece emerged.
