Melon Faces

Artist Marcia Chaves

“Melon Faces” belong to siblings, cousins and neighbors gathered on a hot July day in the ‘50’ on our back porch. Our house was one of the first in the newly developed Argyle Heights subdivision, and as more houses were built, our circle of friends grew to a fun loving adventurous band of adolescents, roaming the woods and fields of old Stafford without a care. We were nurtured and surrounded by good neighbors, in an atmosphere of friendship and trust, without security cameras, locked doors or surveillance setups.
