Barbara Brennan AAJT Fall Show, November 2022

Artist’s Statement

Fall is my favorite season so I’m happy to have the opportunity to show this collection of paintings that revel in autumn’s rich, warm tones. The beauty of an old barn’s wood and its rusting metal roof are revealed when summer’s glare weakens as we head towards winter.

These paintings in oil and pastel were created in my studio, based on my own photographs. The pastels are framed with museum glass to reduce glare and protect the artwork. Most show my love of old buildings in their natural landscapes, but “Pop” was painted just for the fun of losing myself in a close-up look at a bowl of popcorn.
